LAD 5, CHC 2

Anyone else theorize that Maddon got himself thrown out to give a very tired team an extra shot of adrenaline? Just wondering. And if that was the reason, it fell a bit short, although I also suspect Maddon had no expectations of winning Game 1 in the first place.

Who won points-wise? Not the big movement you'd tend to assume with a Kershaw start since Roberts pulled him early; it's Puig pickers who made out:

Gryan 1

Bellinger 1
Puig 6
Turner 1

Kershaw 3

Don't mess with the Yuhan, the only full slate left:

83 Shotwell 2
75 Yuhan 2
72 Zombie Stempel

Rest of the slate, after the jump.

69 Bauer Newbies
68 Shotwell 1, Currie 1
66 Williams
63 Cooley

58 Brady
56 Bunting 1, Drake 1
55 Winklepleck
52 Bingham 1
51 Tormey, Reid DS
50 Ansell

48 Reid Classic
44 MArbour 2
42 Bingham 2

39 Drake 2, Camerons 1
37 Camerons 2, Powell
36 Dunn, Elodie
34 Simone
33 JArbour, Currie 2
32 MArbour 1

25 Bauer Rematch
23 guys guys guys, check it, if Hill throws a complete-game perfecto and strikes out every single batter while hitting four home runs? I am RIGHT BACK IN THIS THING

...Not really. No, literally not really. A complete-game no-hitter in which Hill strikes out all 27 and walks nobody is good for 40 points. Four dingers is another 16. That plus my current slate's majestic 23 current points STILL only gets me second place. This pool, man.

Anyway! Hill is not going to do this ^, but he's going to do something at 7:30 ET, and maybe a HR will be one of those things, as Lester's on the bump for Chicago and he's probably still a little peaked from the Nationals series. We'll all find out; good luck!

If Rich Hill, or anyone, pulls a "Steve Nebraska" at any point this postseason, I will personally pay the winner of this pool $1,000,000. 😁

I mean, it's never the ones you see coming? But: it's not happening. (She says hopefully, since her record of correctness is c. 10% at this point.)
