Pool Standings October 7, AM: Sweep City

And, fittingly, Broomfield is the mayor. Sentimental faves the Cubs and NL pool majority pick the Phils both packed it in last night; a valiant effort on the mound by Grandpa Moyers made the Philadelphia loss especially painful.

Arizona and Colorado pickers all add 9 points -- 2 for the win, 5 for the division win, and another 2 for the series sweep. Nobody else gets squat, and the elimination of Philadelphia chopped out a healthy number of slugger picks as well.

30: Broomfield/Romine
25: Tom
21: Broomfield
18: John
17: Aaron C.
15: Matt, Aaron M., Lauren, Jill
13: Maria Trips
11: Andrew
9: Bunting, S., Tim, Joe, and Famous Original Maria
8: Ben
7: Zach, Maria Deuce
3: Angela
2: Bunting, D.

Big gainers: Tom and John. Officially in the weeds: Tim, down to a single team pick.

The Philadelphia Phillies: Breaking Hearts and Banks of Marias since 1993.

You would think, having watched the Rockies/Padres playoff and knowing that they're an effing juggernaut, that I'd have gone with my instinct and picked the Rockies to continue steamrolling.
You would think, having been AWAKE for the past 10 years and knowing that A-Rod always hits an 0-for-the-playoffs slump, I'd have gone with history and logic and not picked him.

Bad gambler! No cookie!
