CHC 5, LAD 0; Cubs advance, believe it or not

...I'm still not sure I do, the next morning, and as thrilling as it is to see something that hasn't happened in over seven decades, I can't help wishing this had been a little less pathetic on the Dodgers' side of things. I respect Kershaw's grim struggle, but it seemed to infect the whole team, that they lay down and let looming destiny step over them after that first inning.

But now it's on to The Classic Of Narrative. Or, depending on your slate, the scrapheap. First, the points:

Baez -2
Bryant 3
Rizzo 7
Russell 3
Zobrist 0

Hendricks 12.33 (left one on base)

***

Seager -1
Turner 0

Hill n/a
Kershaw 9
Maeda n/a

And of course the gents below the asterisks will be leaving us, and taking a few poolies with them, but let's look at the standings first, after the jump.

Of your current leaders, one is out of picks and another has only Bryant left. Of course, if you don't have certain picks left, it means they can't hurt you at the plate with LOB...

135.33 Simone
130.01 Yuhan 2
128.34 MacEachern

127.33 Williams

115 Bingham 2, Stempel
112.33 Arbour

98.33 Reid Love
97.67 Shotwell
97.33 Johnson 1
96.33 Yuhan 2
94 Shee/Bell

89.33 Cameron 1
82.33 Bauer 1
81.33 Ekard

79.33 Drake
76 Broomfield
75 Currie
72 Bingham 1
71.33 Bauer 2

69.33 Bunting 1
67.66 Johnson 2
66.33 Cameron 2
62.33 Brady
61 Reid Hate

56.67 Quinn

46.45 Bunting 2

37.33 Winklepleck
30.66 Green

6.66 (...eesh) Elodie

Green, Elodie, Reid Hate, and Quinn have no picks left and are well out of it, I'm sorry to say; these slates will not appear in future updates.

I've also elected to pull any slate under 80 that is not unique. For instance, Bunting 1 has Rizzo and Lester left, but so does most of the field, and that slate has barely half the points of the leaders. So it is that we accept the arithmetical inevitable and retire the slates of Broomfield, Currie, Bingham 1, Bunting 1, Johnson 2, Cameron 2, Brady, and Winklepleck as well.

Is there much point in leaving slates like Bunting 2 (only Trevor "Drone Boy" Bauer remaining) and Shotwell (only Baez) in the discussion? Unlikely, especially that first one, but unique slates create some interest for the guy doing the updates, so in they stay, or at least until that bonehead Bauer shows up with an arrow sticking out of his eye or some shit.

As for folks currently in the top with no/only redundant picks remaining, I'll revisit that late next week after we've got some relevant points on the board.
