It's kind of sad that Tim McCarver's "five letter word" gaffe may go down as his defining broadcast moment. It makes the past 25 years of sitting through his ham-handed color commentary almost meaningless now.
I guess I'd always hoped for a bigger payoff from his incompetence. Alas.
