LAD 8, ARI 5

The scores, and the manner in which they were achieved, seem like the Dodgers v. everyone else in a nutshell in 2017. You can come part of the way back...and then they'll put on another burst and leave you behind.

I'd like to see a little more burstiness from one C. Bellinger, but I'm quirky like that.

Points:

Goldie 4

Ray 2

Seager 1
Turner 1

Hill 1, and I felt lucky to get by with that, hashtag never AJ

So that makes the money

Full standings and more, after the jump.

Going into the second off day, we can usually see the shape of things more clearly. This year, we still have a couple of starter picks who haven't hit the board yet, plus a couple of lopsided contests in the AL that aren't going to give certain slates much chance if the teams don't find a way to stay alive. On that tip, I'm not giving the Sox odds to avoid a sweep; they're banged up, but more to the point from where I sit, they don't reeeeally look like they want to be there. A day off and the Fenway faithful could energize them, but: Doug Fister. This is probably over.

Yanks, I don't know. They also lack urgency IMO, but for a different reason; I thought they would take at least one before going down, but it has to be this one, and the hitting getting its feet under it against Carrasco would not seem the likeliest. But that's why they play the games. I had a fork in Washington last night even after the Harper homer. Anything could happen!

(Ron Howard voice: "It didn't.")

HOU/BOS at 2:30 on FS1; the night game is CLE/NYY at 7:30, same network. Got math? Email/comments, and as always, good luck!
